Mr Bean goes to NZ

By Andrew Robertson · Comments · Permalink
Head Bean (Andrew Robertson) has just spent 2 days with the Jellybeans Music NZ team in Auckland. They are doing fabulous things in bringing our quality classroom music programme to more and more schools across New Zealand. Currently there are Jellybeans Music schools happening in Auckland, Wellington (Term 2) and Hamilton (Term 3). With more potential schools in Christchurch and Dunedin later in 2018 - watch this space!
Margaret White (in charge of growing the Jellybeans Music schools in NZ) is doing a fabulous job. She has also recruited a great team of teachers. Andrew had the opportunity to watch recorder specialist and Jellybeans Music teacher Kevin Kim in action at two Auckland schools - Mission Heights and Manurewa South. Both wonderful schools with students totally engaged with Kevin's teaching.

With the success of Jellybeans Music in so many NZ schools we are keenly looking for franchisees interested in taking on the role of teaching/running schools in certain areas. Regions such as Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland. If you are passionate about music and music education and would like to run your own business supported by a team of like-minded people, get in touch with Margaret at margaret@jellybeansmusic.co.nz

We'll keep you posted with updates on more cool Jelly things happening in the Land of the Long White Cloud.

Become a Jellybeans Music school in 2018

2018 will mark our 10th year of business at Jellybeans Music. We are anticipating a busy year with more and more schools wanting to improve (or begin) their classroom music programme. We can assist with a Term programme whilst up-skilling classroom teachers. The school then has access to Jellybeans Music programme and repertoire for the remainder of the school year. So jump on board early and you'll have access to our incredible music resources for the whole of 2018.

Go to 'Programme Info' to learn more about what we can offer and how we can make a BIG difference at your school.

Wow - your programme is brilliant and staff absolutely love Ray. Congratulations to you for creating such an effective, quality teaching programme!" - S. Jones Cudgegong Valley PS

Franchisee Lunch

Franchisee Lunch - Term 4 2017

Well we like to do our Franchisee Lunches in style! Our end of year catch up was held at 'A Vintage Affair' in Bowral. The tea house is within the well known tourist antique shopping precinct in Bowral called 'The Acre'. We enjoyed the High Tea which offered a variety of different styles of tea and yummy accompaniments. Unfortunately our Sydney City East and New Zealand Franchisees were unable to attend. Nicole Thomson (Sydney City East) was running a music camp in Malaysia and Margaret White (NZ) was busy running Jellybeans Music programmes in Auckland.

Nonetheless we made the most of it and toasted our absentees with ..... well, teas!

We're looking forward to getting together again for the start of Term 1 as we prepare for a busy Jellybeans 2018.

Research into the benefits of music education has many facets

5 Direct benefits to your school

1. Happier students: Columbia University:

students who study music are more cooperative with teachers and peers, have higher levels of self-confidence and more equipped to express their ideas'

2. Greater enrolments: Parents look for schools that provide a music education offering. Comprehensive inclusive classroom music programmes attract parents looking for a school for their children.

3. Improved motivation and engagement:  Active engagement, disciplined and sustained attention, persistence and risk taking are all benefits of regular high quality music instruction.

4. Less absenteeism: Schools with music programs have an estimated 93.9% attendance rate compared to schools without music education who average 84.9% attendance. 'Critical Links' research

5. Higher grades: Schools with systemic, high quality regular music lessons show improved academic scores across all subject areas in comparison to schools with no music program.

Jellybeans Music tops 30,000 students

2017 has been another busy for the Jellybeans Music team. Our franchise groups have all grown in school numbers and student numbers. From our records of student participation since we began in Term 1, 2008 we believe that we surpassed 30,000 students taught. That's a figure that we're mighty proud of here. this represents 30,000 students who would not have had the chance to experience music education in their schools had it not been for Jellybeans Music.

New Franchise Opportunity

Ever considered running your own franchise

Jellybeans Music became a franchised business in 2013. This came about because the business had grown too large for it's founders (Andrew Robertson and Danise Berger) to continue to run in it's current format. It's a niche business and as such we are looking for individuals with specific criteria. Specifically, those who are passionate about music education wand who wish to take control of their work/life balance.

Taking on the Jellybeans Music franchise for Sydney East Hills has been one of the best things I've done in my life. It's such a great programme for students and so well run and supported by Andrew and Danise. I can imagine us [Kristen and Karen] doing this for many more years.

We are currently look for other passionate people to join our team. There are regions across Sydney with existing schools ready to add to your franchise income immediately. If you have strong experience in music education and want to have more control of your financial future, we'd love to hear from you.
