What Does A Single Day Incursion Look Like?

Adding to our famous In-Schools program we now offer a one-off composition workshop to Primary schools. In the Jellybeans Music Composition Incursion each class composes their own music! To make things easy we supply you with:
  • a highly skilled music specialist
  • all teaching materials (that meet Australian National Curriculum outcomes)
  • all classroom instruments for the day (glockenspiels, percussion instruments)
  • Up-skilling of your own school staff (when they participate in our classes and watch the experts do it!)
  • 10% discount on additional resources that the school may wish to purchase

We provide 50-60 minute classes throughout the day to each class in the school. We can generally fit 7 classes in a day. For more classes we will extend into additional days to ensure all students have an incredible musical experience! Find out more about the individual offerings below

What do we do in a Composition incursion?

A composition incursion is great fun and an ideal learning experience for all Primary age students. Our teacher works with each class to create a piece of music using

some simple techniques. Designed around our Composition Tool Kit students can choose to compose a piece in a variety of styles, including:
  • Space - The Final Frontier (Space)
  • Rumble In The Rainforest (Environment)
  • Old Colonial Days (Australian History)
  • Bollywood Bonanza! (People In Our Community)
  • Antarctica
This incursion focuses on core curriculum elements not covered often in schools, including:
  • Structure
  • Harmony
  • Creating/Composing
  • Improvising
  • Literacy (through composing the Chorus)
This program is proving very popular, as demonstrated by a recent Deputy Principal -
“Rarely do primary school students attempt the level of composition work that our children demonstrated and the engagement and pride in their results was evident when the bell went for recess and they continued their performances.” - L. Fraser (Newbridge Heights PS, NSW)
